About Fara1.5

Fara1.5 is Microsoft Research’s next-generation computer-use model family — three small open models at 4B, 9B, and 27B parameters built on Qwen 3.5 and engineered for reliable web navigation. The models handle the full computer-use action space, executing clicking, typing, form filling, and credentialed site navigation, with context management designed to hold up across hundreds of steps in a single trajectory. The 9B flagship sets a new state of the art among small computer-use models on Online-Mind2Web, nearly doubling the performance of Fara-7B from November, and the 27B variant clears 90% on the same benchmark.

Fara1.5 attacks the core economic problem of agentic browser automation: frontier models are too slow and expensive for routine web work, while earlier small computer-use models traded too much capability for size. The family is tuned for the messiness of practical daily-use scenarios over headline benchmark numbers, and ships with recalibrated safety mechanisms that balance transaction protection with usability on credentialed sites. It is the computer-use specialist within the MagenticLite stack, where MagenticBrain delegates browser work to it, completing Microsoft’s small-model recipe for end-to-end agentic apps that run on commodity hardware.
