About MCP Server for Foundry Labs

MCP Server for Foundry Labs is a Model Context Protocol server that equips GitHub Copilot with tools to discover, integrate, and prototype across the 46+ models and experimental technologies in Microsoft Foundry Labs. Through MCP, Copilot gains real-time access to model documentation, capability metadata, and integration guidance, surfacing them directly inside the IDE. The server exposes model search, capability browsing, and inline integration patterns so developers can move from “which model fits” to “running prototype” in one continuous workflow.

The server addresses the information-fragmentation problem that has come with the rapid growth of the Foundry Labs catalog — developers previously had to navigate multiple documentation sites, demos, and notebooks to evaluate models. By compressing the idea-to-prototype loop to under ten minutes, it lowers the cost of experimenting with Microsoft’s latest AI research. It also serves as a reference implementation of MCP itself, illustrating how the protocol can wire experimental models into mainstream developer tools.
